ScribbleScore is operated by K2024490035 (Pty) Ltd trading as Lumanaire, registration number 2024/490035/07, at 2-6a Lifestyle on Kloof, 50 Kloof Street, Gardens, Cape Town, 8001, South Africa. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act we are the responsible party for the information described below.

• You photograph a completed paper scorecard. We send that photograph to an AI service to read the handwriting, then work out the scores.
• The photograph contains the golfers' names, handicaps and scores, so it is personal information about them as well as about you.
• We do not sell anything to anybody, we run no advertising, and we have no analytics or tracking of any kind in the product.
• You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.

If you sign in to run competitions. Your email address, the name you choose to display, your role, and a secure one-way hash of your sign-in PIN if you set one. We never store the PIN itself. Sign-in codes we email you are stored briefly so we can check the one you type, and they expire after five minutes.

Scorecards you photograph.The image itself, and everything read off it: player names, handicaps, hole-by-hole scores, and any par or stroke index printed on the card. We also keep the AI service's full reading of the card and a record of every correction anyone makes to it, including who made it and when. That audit trail is what lets a club settle a scoring dispute afterwards, so we keep it even after an account is closed.

Competition information. Competition names and dates, course layouts, fourballs, playing partners, results and leaderboards.

Technical information. We read your IP address on sign-in requests to limit how often anyone can attempt to sign in. It is used at that moment and not stored. Our hosting and email providers keep their own operational logs.

We do not collect location, contacts, health data, advertising identifiers, or payment information. There is no analytics, telemetry or tracking software in ScribbleScore.

This is the part most people want explained, so we are being direct about it.

A scorecard carries the names, handicaps and scores of every golfer in the fourball, not only the person who photographed it. Those golfers have not created an account with us and have not agreed to anything. Their details reach us because the person running the competition entered them, or because they were handwritten on the card we were asked to read.

The club or organiser running the competition is responsible for having a proper basis to record their players' scores, which is ordinarily the entry into the competition itself. We process that information only to read the card, work out the results, and show the leaderboard. We do not use it for anything else, and we never use it to build a profile or contact anyone.

If your name appears in a ScribbleScore result and you want it removed, you do not need an account. Write to us at hello@lumanaire.co.za or see removing your details.

We use four service providers. None of them may use your information for their own purposes.

• Anthropicreads the scorecard photographs. Every card you upload is sent to Anthropic's API in the United States so their Claude model can read the handwriting. That means the image, and therefore the names, handicaps and scores written on it, leaves our systems. Anthropic does not train its models on the information we send through its API.
• Supabase stores the database and the scorecard images, in a data centre in Ireland. Scorecard images sit in a private store that is not publicly readable, and are served only through short-lived links that expire after an hour.
• Resend sends the sign-in and invitation emails.
• Vercel hosts the application.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We would disclose information if the law required it, and we would tell you unless we were prohibited from doing so.

Our database and the scorecard images are stored in Ireland, and scorecard photographs are read in the United States. Section 72 of the Protection of Personal Information Act allows this where the receiving party is bound by rules that give comparable protection, or where the transfer is necessary to perform a contract with you. Both apply here: our providers are contractually bound to protect the information, and the app cannot read a scorecard without sending it to be read.

• Sign-in codes: five minutes, then they are cleared.
• Scorecard photographs, competitions and results: for as long as the club needs them as a record of the competition, unless the club asks us to remove them.
• The correction audit trail: kept alongside the results it explains, with the person's name and email removed once their account is deleted.
• Account details: removed when you delete your account.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you may:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
• Ask us to delete information we are not entitled to keep.
• Object to how we are using your information.
• Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Write to hello@lumanaire.co.za. We answer within 30 days. The quickest route for account holders is deleting your account, which you can do yourself from Settings inside the app.

ScribbleScore accounts are for the people running a competition, so they are not intended for children. Junior golfers' names and scores can appear on a scorecard in the same way as any other player's, and are handled exactly as described above. A parent, guardian or the club can ask us to remove them at any time.

ScribbleScore is built for South African golf clubs and is not offered in the European Union. If you are nonetheless in the EU and your details have reached us through a competition, write to us and we will honour the equivalent rights under the General Data Protection Regulation.
