There are two leaderboards, and confusing them is how clubs publish results they later have to correct. One is for the person running the competition. The other is for everybody else, and it does not exist until somebody says so.
Updates as cards are checked, and shows what is still outstanding: which fourballs are in, which are still reading, which are waiting on a person. It is a work-in-progress view, and it is only visible to signed-in staff.
Live in the productComes into existence when an admin publishes it, and not before. Until that moment there is no public page, no link that works, and nothing reachable from the internet.
Live in the productA board that goes public the moment the first card is read will show a member sitting last with three holes missing, and somebody will photograph it. The published result is a deliberate act by a person with the authority to make it, which is also why the person who checked the cards cannot be the one who publishes them unless they are an admin.
Every published board is ranked by the engine, with countback applied and ties marked.

There is a difference between a result anyone with the link can open and a result that turns up when somebody searches a member's name.
Published results are explicitly excluded from search indexing. A member's score is findable by people you sent the link to, and by nobody else.
Before publication there is no public page at all — not by link, not by guessing an address.
The published result carries names and scores. The photograph of the card, with its signatures, stays in private storage reachable only by your staff.
Whoever you share the link with. A competition is only publicly readable once someone with admin rights publishes it; until then it is not reachable from the internet at all.
